Needed: Your thoughts and prayers

The outpouring of support shown to Kari and Aaron so far has been overwhelming. This morning I spoke with Aaron, who said that people have come from all corners of their lives to wish him and Kari well. This means so much to them. Thanks to everyone for that.

However, this is a long battle and everyone's continued support is going to be critical. If you're reading this and would like to let Kari and Aaron know that they are in your thoughts and prayers, please take a moment to comment on this post and let them know.

This was today's prayer from one of the online daily devotionals I receive:

Alone with none but thee, my God,
I journey on my way.
What need I fear when thou art near,
Oh king of night and day?
More safe am I within thy hand
Than if a host did round me stand.

- St. Columba (521-597)

Praying for you, dearest Kari and Aaron, that you continue to be held in the safety of His mighty hand and can rest and heal in Him.
In faith and love,
KT

As a former Episcopalian, I often go to the Book of Common Prayer to find a specific prayer for a special need:

O God of heavenly powers, by the might of Your command You drive away from our bodies all sickness and all infirmity: Be present in Your goodness with Your servant Kari, that her weakness may be banished and her strength restored; and that, her health being renewed, she may bless Your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I've got this taped to my computer at work and every time I think of you, Kari, I say this prayer. I also listen to KLOVE online all day long and so many songs bring you to mind, especially "Blessed Be Your Name". When you taught it to me at family camp last summer you told me it was your new church home's "theme song" and whenever I hear it or sing it, I lift you and Aaron up in prayer. I can still hear your beautiful voice singing those words and me doing the "guy part" underneath :-)

Every time I light the candles at church, I remember the whole platform being "decorated" with little yellow post-it notes from you saying "Kathy, light the candles" and I smile and lift you up to our Lord.

Our final evening with our Kari before she headed back to Boston was last Sunday. She pulled Charlie and I into a circle, held our hands tightly, and lead us in prayer for you and Aaron. There were tears of joy mixed with the tears of sorrow pouring down my face as I listened to her cry out to God for you.

I could go on and on.......
In love and faith and praying without ceasing,
KT

Aaron & Kari, you are both such inspirations to all of us, you held my hand & my familys hands as we went through the death of my sister, for that I will always be grateful to you, you have touched so many of us in such wonderful ways. God is holding your hands through this journey, & he will be with you every step of the way!!
Love & Peace to you both.

Prayer for Kari

Lord God we ask you, hold her tight
within your arms
for though in anguish, here on earth
our faith and prayers we send
for only you can know the path
you have chosen to be hers
and we your loyal followers
hold hands across the miles
and ask you Lord, a leap of faith
a miracle be ours
and You to just be there
for we know from your teachings
never more than we can bear
and though you have seen us beat our
chests in pain
our faith will never fail
And in concluding this my Lord
We offer up in prayer
That we upon the sidelines know Kari’s in your care

Aaron and Kari,

Mona and I are praying for you. We are passing the word to others at Ginger Creek Community Church and other friends of yours from Naperville. We are grief stricken to hear what happened but thankful you are both alive. God bless you both.

Aaron and Kari...I know it's been a long time, but I wanted to let you know that you are both in my prayers. You are loved by so many people! Stay positive and believe that miracles do happen. I will share your story with the pastors at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville so that the prayer chain can be extended. Love to you both!

Kari and Aaron,
Mr. Barrett and I have n\moved to the UP in Michigan and are retiring on a lake surrounded by God's beauty. I will take you to my small church in Germfask, Michigan on Sunday, actually I will be calling my pastor tomorrow morning to ask for prayers for you. In addition, you will both be added to my sister, Aunt Ricki's Umited Methodist Church in Salem Wisconsin and my mom's at Otterbein Home retirement home in Lebanon Ohio. The ribbon of love and prayer will wrap around you.
Aaron, you have shared so much with so many, now receive back that which you have sown. Love and prayers, Mom "Jan" Barrett
