Thank You

Hello everyone-

I wonder if there will ever be a day when I won’t “notice” that I’m paralyzed.  I’m fairly confident that someday that day will come. But until then I continue to take this one day at a time.  And today I have gone back to the early days just after the accident and read emails and blogs from all of you.  So I just wanted to say thank you.  We were completely overwhelmed with the tremendous amount of love and support that we received.

I also am curious to know how everyone found out about our accident.  The networking was incredible. So if you’re still reading this blog, can you either comment or send an email to let us know how you found out.

Thanks so much.  We love you all!

Ten Months Today

Hello faithful readers!

I really don’t have a good excuse for not writing sooner.  One thing I’m really good at is procrastination! ( Those of you who know me well probably are not surprised.

It has been 10 months today since our accident.  Isn’t that amazing?  I’m so thankful to God for holding us and sustaining us through this time.

Everyday I feel better and stronger.  I preached my second sermon this past Sunday.  By the way, the message I preached in March was not recorded.  But this past Sunday it was recorded; so I will try to figure out this technological obstacle and get a recording of it on our website.

Since our last update a few things have happened.  I did go to San Diego for the Women’s Clergy Conference in April.  It was a challenge.  The first thing that happened…Sarah, Daleasha and I got stuck in a glass elevator.  Because of my 600 lb. wheelchair, we were over the weight limit!  We were only trapped for about 15 minutes. (  There also was a well-meaning welcome at our Free Methodist gathering.  Unfortunately I was very unprepared and had to leave until I regained my composure.  I was very overwhelmed.  We did take a few hours to visit the Wild Animal Park.  That was really neat!  We even bought season passes.  We also had plans to go whale-watching, but our time limit prevented us from going.

Aaron and I went exploring a couple of weeks ago to find some hiking trails around Riverside.  We weren’t very successful, but we still had fun.  We have some more ideas, but we need a little more time.

We are traveling to Craig in August for a week long re-evaluation.  A few days after that we will go to Illinois.  Aaron’s best friend is getting married, so Aaron will be his best man.  And the couple asked me to perform the wedding. (  I’m very honored that they asked me to do this for them.  We are looking forward to seeing many many friends and our family!!

Thanks so much AGAIN for your amazing, unfailing support.  We love you all.

Love,
Kari and Aaron
