Update 10/01 evening

Hello All—

Well, it’s been a long day, but things are looking better.  Kari slept from about 12:00 to 2:00 and then woke up and was doing better.  Still not able to talk clearly, and less yelling of the nonsense, but she was still not normal.  She ate a small lunch and recognized me.  We were able to have a very broken conversation, but the longer she stayed awake, the worse she got.  By 4:30 she was yelling and shaking violently again.  Jan (whose house we had our wedding reception at and who took us on the “Dead tulip Festival” that is in the pictures section) must have the magic sleepy touch, because after 2 hours of trying to get her to sleep, which was very frustrating, Jan walked in and 20 min. later she was peacefully asleep.  I went out to grab dinner and returned around 8:00 to find Kari almost totally normal.  Very groggy and still fishing for some words, but definitely “all there” and able to have a normal conversation.  She started to wear down around 10:30, slipping back out of reality when she had spasms or pain.  It is now 12:30am, and Kari seems to be getting back to sleep.  For the last hour she hasn’t made much sense, so it seems pretty obvious to us that what Dr. Balazy said is right and that she basically couldn’t handle things anymore.  It’s the body’s way of screaming “get more sleep!!!” at you.  She usually does great after long periods of sleep.  Anyways, my dad arrived today with the van that was donated to us, and it looks like it will work fine for us.  More pictures will be on the website.  If you haven’t noticed, the website had a major overhaul which I think looks great.  There’s a nice picture on the opening page.  Also, if you have time, read about John and Cyndi’s visit.  It will give you a better Idea about the day to day activities and has some great pictures on it.  Anyways, I’m falling asleep here, so take care and thank you for praying.

Aaron.

Praise God for Jan and her "mommy magic"! I'm so glad she is there and could soothe Kari to sleep and allow you to get away and take care of yourself for a while.

We devoted our entire prayer time this morning to lifting you and Kari up to our Father God. We love you both so very much and will keep those prayers coming, for the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Kari and Aaron, remember that there are hundreds if not thousands of us in cyberspace who remember you in our daily prayers and are asking the Lord to protect and heal you, Kari, from your pain and suffering. The Lord will answer those prayers, although when and how we are not able to foresee. In truth, your mutual choice to move forward and to choose life IS an inspiration to all of us. We will keep you both in our prayers. Love, Pia and Jay V.(RCTA)

You two were lifted up this morning here in the UP of Michigan. There were 23 in attendance at our liuttle rural UM church. You have been in our "joys and concerns" since July.
Take care of yourself, Aaron, and grab all the hugs you can from those around you.
Love, Mom Barrett

Dear Kari + Aaron,

Kathy, some day, may tell you the kind of healing I have been blessed with in recent months. Or I may for that matter, when the time is better.

Different kind of healing. Same principle that Derin preached on this morning. He is doing The Ten Commandments over several weeks. Today was "Honoring the Sabbath" and different ways that is done.

For over a decade, in adddition to other factors, I have had to chart my sleep. It all comes out in what you wrote.

Hours of sleep "buys" you hours of being awake. You can "cheat" a little here and there, but the body needs the rest to heal, physicaly, and emotionally.

My age, the direction my life has gone, I have to do some form of Sabbath every few hours.

Kari has now been "victorious" in getting at least a few chunks of sleep. This will bring faith and confidence. I also see as the sleep or rest numbers go up, other victories will start to come back, again, in God's time...

Love/Peace/Strength,

Charlie +
