Moving on (1/5/6)

Hello All--

We’ve been home for a week now, and things are still going well.  We went to Kari’s doctor for her hospital discharge follow up and got all her prescriptions done along with flu shots and a pneumonia vaccine.  The Doctor seemed to think that Kari was doing well and they were happy to see her since hearing about the accident July.  Health wise, the only problem that Kari is the tension and resulting pain in her shoulders and neck that has bothered her for months.  Her arms too, which were straightened by casting, have also started to tighten up a bit, and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her new arm splints that should help correct the problem.  Other than that, we are both feeling great and still excited about being in Southern California.  (Still can’t believe SC lost!) Yesterday was such a beautiful day and Kari and I were able to get out to do some errands and see our new apartment, which Kari loved.

We move in tomorrow (Friday), and would definitely appreciate any help if you are able.  I don’t anticipate needing any help until noon or later, and if you are interested, call me and I’ll tell you where to meet.  (If you don’t have my number, leave a comment to this update with you’re email and I‘ll write you back later this evening.)  All of our stuff is either in Loma Linda at a storage unit or in Redlands at our church, so any large vehicles would obviously be useful.  The bathroom still needs modification, which we can’t start until we get the Keys and will need to start Saturday.  I have already spoken with some people about helping, but could use one or two experienced people to help get started on it on Saturday.  Needless to say, it’s about to be a very busy few days, but we are excited to get into our own place.

There is good news to report from the Logan house, where we are staying.  Melissa had (yet another) surgery yesterday to put a nerve block into her lower back and is now walking again.  She has had these done before, though, and some of the previous blocks have only worked for a few days.  We are all happy that it worked, but of course nervous about how long it will last, as the rollercoaster Melissa and her family have been on the last year has had countless ups and downs.  Still, it is a joy to see her standing.  I can understand why the atmosphere here yesterday was one more of relief than excitement as Kari and I have found it hard to celebrate some of the progress she made during rehab with the entirety of the situation still upon us.  I imagine, in our different struggles, we all feel how a soldier must feel after a long-fought battle—hardened by pain, weary from the struggle, relived by victory, and unsure about when the next inevitable battle will start.  Thank you for keeping us so faithfully in your prayers.

Aaron.

Your page is blocked (again) through the RUSD filter, so I am not sure how many/who from Gage knows that you need help moving tomorrow. If you call or e-mail me, Jacob and I will help (but not until late afternoon). I could borrow my Dad's small pickup, if that would help. My e-mail is mrsweinstein@fastmail.fm

Mr. Guzman,

Unfortunately I have not read your site for a week or so (sick with the flu). However if you still need it, we have access to at least one flatbed truck. I'm not sure if you've been able to move everything this weekend or not. If you still need help, let me know. It is such a blessing to read your blog and know that you are home and that things are going much better.

Unfortunately I have not checked your site in a week or (sick with the flu) but we do have access to a flatbed truck if you still need it. Please contact me if you were not able to get completely moved this weekend.

I hope all is going well with your bathroom modifications, can't help you at all with that, but if you need anything else, please give me a call. I live just up the hill from your apartment, so am close by. - Crystal Cranor (Christopher's mom from Gage band), cryriv53@yahoo.com, 686-2857

I hope this finds you in your new place - almost settled in. Aaron - it doesn't matter where you are - far or near - you and Kari will always be in our prayers. We love you.
You are right USC got skunked. How about Cincinnati yesterday? Now we have to play the ugly Phil. team.
Give Kari a Janice hug.
Love you,
Jan Yessa

Hi, this is Aaron's mother.
It occurred to me that some of you who are hungry for news from Aaron and Kari might like to be added to my update list. I don't write all that often either, and it's better to hear straight from Aaron, but that would be an additional source of news for you. Just email me at alice.guzman@sbcglobal.net and I'll put you on my list.

Mr. Guzman,
Like all the other friends that have been following this website, I have been heart linked to the updates. I ask you to accept my apologies for skipping out on you this past month but want you to know that you have been in my prayers and are a constant reminder to me on what the Love of God helps us to overcome.
I wanted to offer to you and keri any help that the two of you may need as I truly feel that the Lord has moved my heart and is asking me to serve you in some way.
I dont want to leave my Phone # on this blog but can be reached at Hawthorne Elementry # is in the RUSD directory. You can reach me between the hours of 12:00 to 3:45. I have learned so much through these letters and hope that we can meet up to share.

Hi Aaron - We don't know each other well but it was wonderful to see you yesterday in the library and give you a quick hug. I played catchup on the posts here, hadn't read since well before the holidays and wanted to tell you that I have supported and read this blog totally. I'm amazed at what an incredible idea it was for you to do this...to help deal with the situation - the positives and negatives - especially the negatives. Also, in any given situation but especially with you both being in the hospital for as long as you have, there are of course people you can work with and some you can't - that's a given. I think airing things out as you have (and so deeply personal as they were) has benefitted you (and Kari) in ways that may not even be evident yet. I have supported you (albeit silently) all along and hope that my positive vibes have reached you in some way. I look forward to seeing you again - and hearing more progress with Kari's health and your state of mind...All my best - Rita (Bramhall - Speech/Language Path. at Gage)
